The Times Tower, back before it became a gigantic stand for billboards. Via Lileks
During the “Nemo” winter storm, we had a pretty good snowball fight in Times Square at around midnight, but after about half an hour the cops told everyone to “go back to our hotels” so that the Dept. of Transportation could finish shoveling via mini-bulldozer. Lame.

This is a black-and-white version of a Times Square photo I took a few weeks ago. You can see the original here. The color of Times Square’s lights are usually interesting, but I love the way the black-and-white rendition really emphasizes the magnitude of the powered billboards in contrast to everything else in the scene.
Times Square is actually quite beautiful when the bitter cold has culled the lesser tourists. You can see more NYC in Winter photos in my album here.
